Description: BluEcoinVET Smart Rain Garden is a STEM-based environmental monitoring simulation designed for vocational education students. The project models a smart rain garden system that observes soil moisture, light level and temperature values by using Arduino-based sensors. The system gives visual and sound alerts through LEDs and a buzzer when the environmental conditions are not suitable. The main aim of the activity is to raise students’ awareness about water conservation, freshwater protection, climate adaptation and nature-based solutions. Students learn how rain gardens can help reduce surface runoff, support water reuse, prevent urban flooding and improve ecological balance in school environments. In the Tinkercad simulation, students design the circuit, connect sensors, read real-time data and display the rain garden status on an LCD screen. The system shows different status messages such as “STABLE”, “WATER”, “CHECK” and “CRITICAL”. This helps students understand how data can be used for environmental decision-making. This resource supports inquiry-based learning, problem solving, digital skills and sustainability education. It can be used in science, technology, engineering, environmental education and vocational training lessons.
