Gratitude Journal Activity: Thank you, Ocean! Examples: “One thing the ocean gives us that I’m grateful for is…” (Example: a home for my favourite animal X, waves to play in, our weather) “The ocean makes me feel…” (Example: calm, happy, excited) “One way I can help take care of the ocean is…” (Example: using less plastic and recycling, walking or cycling, keeping beaches and rivers clean) Climate and the Ocean Science Story 2. Journaling (10 – 20 minutes) Each student gets a journal or piece of paper. Optional: Make your own ocean themed gratitude journal! Everyone writes three to five things in their journal that the ocean provides which they are grateful for and one to two ways they want to give back to the ocean.
