Freshwater matters because all living things need it to survive. We drink it, grow crops with it, and use it for washing and cleaning. Healthy freshwater ecosystems also help to prevent erosion , filter water and provide natural flood protection . Freshwater support wildlife , from fish in rivers, to animals that drink from lakes, and keeps our ecosystems healthy. Without enough clean freshwater, people, plants, and animals would struggle to live . Sadly, there are things that threaten our freshwater. But first, lets looks at who calls these places home!
